Koopmans
Tjalling Charles, 1910–1985, aus den Niederlanden stammender Nationalökonom, der 1940 in die Vereinigten Staaten emigrierte, in der Cowles Commission arbeitete und in Yale (1955–1981) lehrte; ⇡ Nobelpreis für Wirtschaftswissenschaften 1975 (zusammen mit ⇡ Kantorowitsch). K. begründete die ⇡ Aktivitätsanalyse oder das lineare Programmieren, die – unabhängig von ihm – von Kantorowitsch schon vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg entwickelt worden war. Er wandte diese Technik – wie zuvor Dantzig – zunächst auf das Transportproblem an. In weiteren Arbeiten zeigte er, dass die Aktivitätsanalyse sich auf ganz verschiedenen Gebieten – wie der Ressourcenallokation, dem Wirtschaftswachstum und dem allgemeinen Gleichgewicht – einsetzen lässt und nicht – lineare Beziehungen nicht ausschließt.
